English Dub Review: Dr. Stone: New World: “The Trump Card Aboard the Science Vessel”
Overview: Senku (Matt Shipman), Kohaku (Felecia Angelle), and Gen (Brandon McInnis) learn how Amaryllis (Leah Clark) survived her close encounter of being turned to stone as well as some of how the petrification works.
Our Take: Amaryllis is quite the charmer as far as new characters go. However, she works on multiple fronts, acting as a means in getting to know the enemy that Senku and the gang are up against.
Her backstory establishes her narrow escape, but, interestingly, by design, due to the Master’s enforcers. Moz and Kirisame are a quirky duo with great chemistry in how offput she is with his lothario attitude. They are also fairly imposing in their skill as warriors with the added bonus of petrifaction working in their favor. The nature of the petrification devices establishes its rules, like range and targeting, having Senku concocting plans to circumvent it.
Kohaku’s undercover mission with Amaryllis is looking to be an enjoyable romp in how she awkwardly and cluelessly stumbles her way into femininity. Kohaku’s brief battle with Kirisame reveals how strong her enemy is and adorably shy with romantic situations. Kohaku and Senku’s couple charade is also charming in how forced it is.
Ginro, being one of the few people still active, makes for some hilarious close calls of being caught. A Suika and Ginro team-up will surely be entertaining in how she reigns in an idiot and loose canon like him. However, the fun also lies in how that can possibly be used in their favor.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
