Our Take

This week’s episode of Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head is a nice mix of everything. I actually really enjoyed Beavis’ near assassination attempt in “The Day Butt-Head Went Too Far” on Butt-Head and actually would’ve liked to have seen a bit more attempts on the life of his fellow comrade. The direction by Michael A. Zimmerman was top-notch, feeling more like a crime drama complete with shadows, twists, and possibly an unresolved ending.

“Spring Break” was a funny concept from Moss Perricone that was a bit more typical of an effort, seeing the boys just doing dumb shit. As a guy born and raised on the Jersey Shore (no not the series), I loved the shout out, but I’m not sure any of the jokes really stick the landing. Moreover, I thought the backgrounds featuring the garbage were largely uninspiring and really didn’t flesh out the grossness of being in a heap of garbage.

ANYTIME, Tom Anderson appears on my screen, I die laughing, and the new Lew Morton-written bit was pretty damn hilarious. Lastly, the cutaways were more annoying this week than normal, especially the “Brave Wilderness” as we spent more time trying to deliver Beavis’ weak ass joke than focusing on making fun of the dorky host of the YouTube series which I would’ve appreciated more because I’ve never hate-watched another YouTube clip more than that one.

Quite a few laughs this week, but I’m thinking we could’ve got more for our buck as well.
