English Dub Review: Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion “Why Raeliana Took Up the Fight”

OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

Raeliana and Noah attend a fancy ball to properly announced their fake engagement and verbally spar while Raelina looks for potential social enemies. Among them is Vivian, whom Raeliana recognizes from the novel as a cunning villain. Before things can go too far, she’s saved by her gay stereotype friend. She also attempts to befriend another fiance of a nobleman, who invites her into a group of noblewomen wives. However, their talk is cut short by a smokescreen and Raeliana is suddenly kidnapped.

OUR TAKE

I kinda kid about the caption, but it is nice to get a reminder that something bigger is actually happening with this mystery. For awhile there, it really did feel like it was just about introducing Raeliana to this novel like world and having her meet all of her reverse harem contestants. But actually no, there IS a real threat out there who is willing to kidnap her. We haven’t really gotten much hint towards anything bigger happening since Raeliana reincarnated here, but we do need to remember that somebody PUSHED her to her death that led her to be here, so there could be a lot of layers to the murder mystery there that may overlap with the one being planned out here. Raeliana, or at least the character that she is currently inhabiting, is destined to die at the hand of her fiance, but now that’s been given a wrinkle by her getting a NEW fiance. And so this raises some questions. Did the being that brought Raeliana here plan for this change in the story or was it possibly PLANNING on it, and now has things back on track? And who murders someone just so they can be murdered again in a different timeline?

But the main addition here is showing how Raeliana is adapting to both high society and showing she can keep up with Noah. We saw last episode that it’s not like she’s not able to wow him with her looks, even if she doesn’t quite believe that, but we also see now that she’s clever enough to play the part of smart fake fiance while also clearly having some things she needs to learn. Luckily she is starting to make allies of her own just by her own behavior, including members of Noah’s security, her very uncomfortably cliche stylist, and now a fellow fiance/wife. Heck, for all we know, this kidnapping was against that other wife, not her. But there’s also the possibility that it was a response and retaliation against her for breaking the engagement with the guy she was originally supposed to marry. Ugh, there’s so much to think about and plots and twists to consider! I guess my only major critique at the moment is that the animation is pretty stiff. I realize this isn’t exactly a show that’s going to be known for intense fights, but I think it could look a bit more fluid. Anyway, let’s see where this is headed!
