Review: SpongeBob SquarePants “SpongeBob on Parade”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
The Krusty Krab enters a float in the annual Bikini Bottom Parade.
Our Take:
This week’s episode sees the Krusty Krab crew attending this year’s Bikini Bottom Parade. But, of course, being the cheapskate he is, Mr. Krabs hires Squidward and SpongeBob to make a float with no budget. Squidward has SpongeBob make the float depicting himself. Instead, SpongeBob used everything from the garbage bin and Squidward’s drawing to create a float shaped like a Krabby Patty Pyramid with the Krabby Patty secret formula.
Unfortunately, SpongeBob took his creativity a step further by writing the ingredients for the secret formula on the giant paper, which caught Plankton’s attention. What follows is a joyful parade gone terribly and hilariously awry as Plankton attempts to steal the huge formula in his own float. Thankfully, just out of sheer luck, the last-minute appearances of the gas and matchstick floats destroy the formula before Plankton can taste victory. Plankton managed to get part of the formula, which is salt, and SpongeBob is left to work overtime without pay.
“SpongeBob on Parade” is an enjoyable parade filled with wacky and regular floats, such as Mrs. Puff as a balloon and the “My Leg” guy riding in a leg float. Additionally, it’s another humorous match-up between Plankton and the Krusty Krab team over SpongeBob’s dumb mistake. However, the only joke that I think downgraded the episode a bit was the Nitwitting Club driving into the people watching the parade. It sadly reminded me of the Waukesha Christmas parade tragedy in 2021, where Darrell Brooks killed several people with his vehicle. Whether that’s intentional or not, I found this moment to be in poor taste. Other than that, it’s another tolerable episode involving SpongeBob and the Krusty Krab team turning a simple event into a quirky catastrophe.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
