English Dub Review: The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague “Their Night Together and the Morning Spring Came”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
A long-awaited business trip between Himuro and Fuyutsuki is sent awry by a sudden illness.

Our Take:
We were pretty concerned about the previous episode’s conclusion, with Himuro and Fuyutsuki being seen with suitcases at the train station. We initially thought something went wrong with their potential relationship, but the season one finale shows that that’s not the case. It turns out that the colleagues are going on a business trip together for a special project, which explains the suitcases. At this point, we would’ve figured out the season’s pattern regarding the episodes’ post-credit scenes, but I was having too much fun with the characters to care about it. Sadly for me, this will be the last episode we’ll see this cool colleague duo unless they announce a second season.
The finale involves Himuro and Fuyutsuki being sent away on a business trip. However, this trip differs from the Okinawa business vacation from the second episode, as they also have to deal with their grueling work schedule before going out to dinner. Unfortunately, this doesn’t bode well for Himuro, who wound up having a fever after overworking, resulting in him melting into his child form.
So Fuyutsuki winds up taking care of Himuro in their hotel room until he reverts to his adult form, leading to another awkward moment between them. But, of course, this left Himuro with self-doubt and guilt for having Fuyutsuki do the heavy lifting with work while he was sick. But knowing Fuyutsuki, she’s always willing to help someone in need, especially Himuro, who’s determined to return the favor.
Aside from the usual sitcom-like mishap, the episode also has a tender-hearted conclusion involving them reminiscing their previous adventures together on their way home. It represents that despite the situations they encountered, Himuro and Fuyutsuki admit that they’re glad they met each other. While they’re not at the next step of their relationship yet, it does showcase that their lives have changed for the better, thanks to their first encounter.
The season finale shows that this is the relationship I want to continue seeing in a potential season two. Despite their shy and mundane appearances, Himuro and Fuyutsuki are easily likable for their kind-hearted and thoughtful personalities and perseverance to help each other out. Because of this, it makes this relationship stand out from the other ones involving a highly obnoxious girl bothering the hell out of a boy. Regarding the dynamic of the characters and Ruka Kawada’s beautiful score, the episode is a highly satisfying and heartwarming conclusion to the coolest romance anime of 2023.
