English Dub Review: Handyman Saitou in Another World “The One Who Needs It Most”

Overview

Saitou and the others have returned to their everyday lives. Then, one day, Lafanpan takes a bath in a mysteriously pattered cup and something completely unexpected happens…

Our Take

The next day after such a large-ass battle, Saito awakes from his injuries to find that Morlock has completely recovered, and he finally acknowledges his own feelings for Raelza. Otherwise, his life as an adventurer returns pretty much to normal, except for a few unexpected new developments. The most important ones are that Saito has finally won more confidence in himself and that his exploits have made him so famous that all his friends and the people in the kingdom begin approaching him and asking him for his skills as a handyman, giving him the sense of fulfillment he’s craved for so long…

The only two minor nitpicks were that the storyline was initially a bit all over the place but once it got settled into a more serious and cohesive layout it became easier to follow. And at times it requires you to turn on the subtitles for scenes written in Japanese that are left untranslated which at times defeats the purpose of appealing to an English audience.

Overall, that finale was lovely and so was the show as a whole. A truly underrated one from the season as when it started the tone it set up wasn’t quite clear and as it went along it shifted with various twists I genuinely didn’t see coming. But by the end, it not only delivered but also fulfilled a romance in such a way that much other romance’s in anime take much more time to do so, and seeing how important Saitou has become to everyone around him despite his flaws was a great way to end the proceedings in such a positive note. I’m not sure if Season 2 will become a thing but I wouldn’t be surprised if it did.
