English Dub Review: Buddy Daddies “Everyone Will Be Hypocrites”

Overview:

Kazuki and Rei are trying to adjust to life without Miri, but their days aren’t so quiet for long.

Our Take:

Now that Miri is gone, Kazuki’s and Rei’s lives have become a lot more mundane. They don’t talk to each other much, the apartment is getting messy, and Kazuki is only making instant meals now. Rei decides to go back with his father, which means the end of their partnership.

Rei’s father has other ideas and he wants to cut Rei’s ties for him. Miri is living with her mother now and she seems happy. However, she still wants to be with both her mother and her papas. Unfortunately, it’s not that simple.

One thing leads to another and Miri’s time with her mother is cut short. Kazuki and Rei take her back into their care, but Kazuki’s not sure if she’ll be safe with them. However, Rei wants to make it work. He doesn’t want to be useless anymore and he actually wants to put in the work. That’s how much Miri means to him and he knows she means that much to Kazuki too.

I had a feeling this episode might be a bit of a tearjerker, but I was not prepared for what it actually had to offer. I’m not surprised that Miri ends up going back with Kazuki and Rei. What does surprise are the circumstances. The organization’s place in this story is becoming extremely clear and it’s riveting.

Life has always been complicated for Kazuki and Rei, but now it’s getting even harder. However, it seems like they have no choice but to push through and make the most of it. That’s why they decide on and even though Miri doesn’t really know what’s going on, at least she gets to be happy.
