English Dub Review: Bluelock “Luck”

Overview:

Bachira shakes off the monster which occupied his mind as an ideal, and he awakens his ego. He’s been searching for someone in his play, but now he forges on for his own goal. At the end of the play is Isagi, who’s been waiting for him because he believed in Bachira’s ego. Isagi succeeds in a desperate interception, but the ball flies up and lands mercilessly and cruelly on the winner. It’s the showdown for 8 egoists. The team to clear the second selection’s rivalry battle is…

Our Take(Spoilers):

I imagine this has probably the best bird shit metaphor I’ve ever heard in my life. Ego has always been hilarious but the way he described luck was fascinating to me. Plus, I gained a lot of respect for Rin in this episode. His team won but he isn’t too cocky to realize that the way the ball dropped was luck, but he did put himself in the best position to take advantage.

Not going to lie I was pretty surprised that Isagi’s team lost. I was wondering how he and Bachira would end up back on the same team. After a couple of weeks of theory crafting on my part, it seems my dark horse theory was the prevailing one. It’s weird because of course Isagi is the main character but as far as the supporting cast it feels like there is a revolving door of sorts in that department. Sure we know and love a lot of the characters but I think the series is going to be focusing on Rin and Isagi now. First up is a match against the world’s best and Rin strikes first blood. Next week is the last episode but luckily we got a second season to look forward to.
