English Dub Review: Akiba Maid War: “At Moe’s End”
Overview: Nagomi, (Alyssa Marek) Yumechi, (Cat Thomas) Okachimachi (Luci Christian) and the rest of the maids prepare for one last attack against Nagi and Creatureland.
Our Take: Nagomi’s 180 turn after Ranko’s death is a shocking development in how hardened she is. Although, thankfully, she also maintains her own signature traits, rallying the team with grit as a refreshing change-up. While her role is built up meaningfully, the same can’t be said for the other girls. Shiipon, Zoya and the rest of the maids play a more passive role to her and her ideas, being shifted into the background.
There are strides made for Nagi’s dark thirst that can never quite be quenched. It’s an intriguing concept but one that’s half-baked with it never truly coming into its own.
Oinky Doink’s final stand is heartfelt and tense, relying on its special juxtaposition of fluffy and charming performances and songs.
Nagi’s death is sudden and does nothing to progress how the café moves forward and prospers or how Nagomi helps quell the violence in Akiba. The breakneck sprint to the finish line is abrupt, making for a jarring resolution and further contributing to the sloppiness.
Poor pacing and inconsistent developments aside, Nagomi fulfilling her maid dream is enough to put a smile on anyone’s face.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
