Review: South Park “Spring Break”
Overview
Spring Break is an excuse for Garrison to jump back into his former depraved lifestyle.
Our Take
South Park season 26 comes to a close, but expect to get a few more Paramount+ exclusive movies that I think could have a lot to do with this finale episode. With the 2024 Presidential election cycle coming into focus and a lot of potential candidates in the air, Matt Stone and Trey Parker are readying a couple of their pieces, not unlike the Warhammer 40k game that Stan and Tolkien were playing.
Both premises dealt with men wanting to find their true-selves only to come to the conclusion that they are better off with what they have back home. For Randy, it’s learning about the importance of family and not worrying about getting shit-faced for spring break. For Herb, it’s about being able to move on with your life even if you are, in fact, a loser. For my money, Trey Parker probably better relates to Stan playing 40k at home.
I love Randy episodes that are over-the-top and this is one of those. Featuring a morale about men wanting to be men in a society that increasingly resents them, Randy’s big party quickly devolves when a big shoot out breaks out that we don’t quite get to see the ending to. Add that twist into the one presented with Herb’s speech, and we had ourselves a topsy-turvy finale.
We’ll get into the overall season review next week, but after 26 seasons, Matt Stone and Trey Parker consistently showcase a meta-level ability to give us entertaining thought-provoking television. I don’t think this is the last we hear from the guys this year, and the PC police have been put on notice.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
