Review: HouseBroken “Who’s Obsessed? (A Lifetime Original)”

Overview

When Chief joins a walking group, a beautiful dog named Ruby tries to get close to him, but her intentions are not what they seem; Elsa’s quest to make female friends gets derailed when she becomes suspicious of Ruby.

Our Take

The furry antics of FOX’s lone series that follows only anthropomorphic characters has a murky future. With the network debuting the show’s second season at the 930 pm ET/PT slot alone after a number of AniDom reruns, it feels like FOX is giving this franchise the same Duncanville treatment as last year. Alas, FOX hasn’t figured out how to deploy an animated franchise on its own just yet, and we’re all suffering for it.

It’s pretty sad given this debut episode of HouseBroken season two (other than the X-Mas specials) because the show is adorable as hell. This week we get a Lifetime movie crossed with a flea/tick removal bit that all animal lovers could relate to that was pretty hilarious if you ask me. The top-notch voice cast continues to shine through and this comes as Sharon Horgan (voice of Tabitha) has increased star creds following her hilarious performance in The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent.

If HouseBroken fails, this isn’t the fault of anyone but the network. Clearly the scheduling department is delusionary, and the network doesn’t do enough to market its newer franchises. Hopefully this changes as FOX looks to increase investment in the animation industry in the years to come.
