English Dub Review: Revenger: “Two of a Trade Never Agree”

Overview: Usui (Christopher Wehkamp) plants seeds of a new life for Raizo (Aaron Campbell) as the Revengers are given a new task shrouded in oddities.

Our Take: The series continues to break new grounds for Raizo’s career as a highly sought after artist. There is a layer of hope, laying the foundation for his endgame. Usui caring for him, shows how much he connects with him as a kindred spirit. Usui’s lies to Nio, appeasing his extreme, strict adherence to Revenger rules. The moment solidifies his bond with the ronin and his optimism for his future.

Raizo meets a new priest. His negative outlook details how livelihood equally sucks life out, similar to those who murder as a profession. It paints a pessimistic picture of how he treats human life and the threat he presents.

The Church’s ominous circumstances and disregard for rules surrounding their new job for the Revengers stirs up a brewing inner conflict. The weird orders give the feeling that the Revengers will act as a deterrent for the Church’s skeletons, Liu.

Shishido hires another Revengers team, led by the unknown priest. Their presence kicks off an intense Revenger vs. Revenger battle. The development is intriguing as Kurima is on the precipice of learning the Chinese warrior’s true purpose in seeking out Matsumine’s opium.
