English Dub Review: Peter Grill and the Philosopher’s Time Super Extra “Peter Grill and Family Ties”
Overview
Peter’s already complicated life grows more so when Lucy joins the Warriors Guild. He needs to be extra careful now!
Our Take
As Peter, Lucy, and Gobuko eat a meal to celebrate their lovely reunion, Lucy asks who cooked the food and it’s here when some of Peter’s unwanted harem slowly ingratiate themselves in Lucy’s presence as Piglette comes out claiming to be Peter’s servant, then invites her to join the Guild. Lucy and Gobuko go to the Guild so she can sign up while the women proceed to try and forcibly seduce Peter.
While this is going on, Luvelia challenges Lucy to a spar, which Lucy wins. Noticing Luvelia was sluggish, Lucy asks if she is pregnant, but she has no idea what that means and thinks babies come from storks which gives you an idea of how sheltered and uneducated she is in that particular field. And later when Gobuko innocently and unintentionally lets some private information slip to Lucy, she angrily rushes back to Peter’s home just as they finish getting dressed and not only reveals that she hid a recording device, and plays back their innuendo (yet not the whole recording of Peter saying no?). Enraged, Lucy proceeds to unleash hell and then reveals the fate of their unfaithful father and intends to do the same to Peter…
Overall, a wacky episode full of softcore nudity, sex jokes, and the comedic contrivance it’s known for. I find it to be total bullshit that Lucy’s recording just plays that one specific bit of conversation of the women being the aggressors. How does it not have the recorded parts where Peter insists that he has a fiancee and is trying to turn them down? At least the ending gave me a good laugh even if there was a small animation error of seeing two Gobuko’s in the background. Hopefully, they’ll do better next episode…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
