English Dub Review: My Hero Academia “Hired Gun”

Overview:

The top three heroes continue to face criticism as they deal with jailbreakers and look for hints about All For One and Shigaraki’s whereabouts, and Izuku comes across a villain from Tartarus.

Our Take:

Man if there is one thing My Hero Academia does a lot better than a lot of other anime is the mature women they add. Mirko, and now Lady Nagant, I think it might say more about me than them with how much I love them and wish they were in the series more. Granted we don’t know how long either will be but still, I need more Mirko.

I was excited about this episode because it meant one of my favorite panels from the manga would be animated. This might be the first time that the manga did it a bit better. When Deku uses his float power to put the umbrella above the girl’s head just came across a bit better in print form.

As for the episode I might have mentioned that this is one of my favorite arcs and this is why. Deku going all out with all of One for All’s powers is really awesome. My only complaint is that we didn’t get the slow burn with them all and he just got them all at once. But still, it’s really cool to see him finally starting to master the power in his own way.

Becoming a bad-ass doesn’t mean that people won’t worry about him though and seeing how much All Might care is both sweet and sad at the same time. He cares so much for Deku but he can tell that he isn’t taking care of himself but feels like he can’t say anything because that was exactly what he was like. Seeing their mentor/mentee relationship evolve has been one of the best parts of the show, I think they will go down as one of the better mentor situations in anime.
