English Dub Review: Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro “How Are Your Fortunes This Year, Senpai?”;”I Figured That’s How You’d Ski, Senpai”
Overview:
Senpai has a Christmas gift for Nagatoro, but The Friends get in the way of him handing it to her.
Our Take:
Once again I feel like I have to spend a portion of a review complaining about how Crunchyroll handles things. First of all, there was no episode last week which is fine but there wasn’t an announcement, and not only that but it was even on the site for a short time. That explains why we got two episodes this week. What it doesn’t explain is why in episode six at least there were so many issues. It had subtitles like I was watching a subbed episode and based on the dialogue I don’t even think it was the same episode. Not a huge issue but it was distracting and once again for a big company, I expect more.
Now as for the anime itself, I feel like it’s improved markedly. There is less bullying stuff and they are actively putting things about them liking each other out into the universe. Not only that Senpai is also getting a little better and coming out of his shell. Just as far as the character development is going I am seeing a huge improvement. I’m not afraid to dog a show for being garbage but if it starts to get better it deserves some praise too.
Having said all that I don’t know how I would feel about telling someone to watch a show that is cringey at its best for about seventeen episodes or so before it starts to get good. Unless this gets so much better it blows other rom-coms out of the water I still don’t think I would recommend it because the barrier to getting to good content is too high. But I did appreciate these two episodes, I just wish Crunchyroll could get better too.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
