English Dub Review: Buddy Daddies “Nothing Seek, Nothing Find”
Overview:
Rei has to take a job from his father.
Our Take:
We learned more about Kazuki’s past in the last episode, so it only makes sense that we learn more about Rei’s past in this one. We find out a little bit about his relationship with his father. It turns out his father is the leader of the assassin organization. He wants Rei to return home, but Rei needs more time. In the meantime, Rei gets a job to take out a traitor. Unfortunately for Rei, this traitor just so happens to be his mentor.
Rei carries out this mission and succeeds, but things don’t go as planned. He’s also questioning his choices while this is all going on. He’s been killing for his whole life simply because he was instructed to do so. Rei is starting to wonder if that’s really what he should be doing with his life.
This episode also happens to take place on Rei’s birthday, so Kazuki and Miri set up a party for him. That doesn’t go as planned either, but at they all get to celebrate in the end.
I’m glad we get to learn about Rei’s past in this episode. I feel like more details were omitted from his backstory than Kazuki’s, but we still see Rei’s relationship with his father. Plus, we also get to see how Kazuki and Rei first met. It turns out that Kazuki has always been the more responsible one of the duo. In fact, Rei was a complete mess until Kazuki started taking care of him.
Since Rei’s father is the head of the organization, I can only imagine how that will complicate things for our duo. We actually see a glimpse of that at the end of the episode. It’s a concerning scene giving what business they’re in, but it’s also a good way to keep the viewer’s attention.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
