English Dub Review: Akiba Maid War: “Akiba Creatures Go Wild! Let the Moe Festivities Begin!!”
Overview: Nagomi (Alyssa Marek) champions the team to perform their best at the Lady Omoe Festival.
Our Take: Oinky Doink turns the maid world on its head. In doing so, it provides endless enjoyment in the batshit way they go about it. With a gigantic maid festival featuring various groups competing for top dog, it only gets more hectic, playing to its strength. While it’s not changing the game in its formula, the series continues to execute its preexisting one well.
The pigs are at the bottom of the Creatureland’s ecosystem, both literally and metaphorically. It is goofily on-the-nose, but charming in their underdog status. All the abuse they endure adds to their eventual comeback, one that was orchestrated as a win for Dazzlion, Nagi’s cafe. Injecting a comedic layer throughout is how useless and undependable Yasuko is.
Nagomi’s win over Nagi and Dazzlion will be eye-catching in the bloody blowback it will no doubt invoke. It will also be entertaining how they deal with newfound popularity and sales that it brings. A precursor to the rough waters ahead is through the Debt Collector paying the punishment for his negligence in keeping them on a leash.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
