English Dub Review: The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague “A First Meal and a Secret Photo”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Himuro-kun wants to take Fuyutsuki-san to dinner as thanks for her kindness, but first, he must choose a restaurant…
Our Take:
Himuro managed to survive his first business trip to Okinawa. It isn’t without a few issues regarding his magic, but he pulled through thanks to Fuyutsuki’s kindness. However, just as the retreat comes to an end, Himuro realizes that he’ll wind up being transferred to a different department away from Fuyutsuki. This was another cliffhanger that posed a mild threat to his friendship with Fuyutsuki. Thankfully, his worries are for nothing, as the two wind up in the same department with Saejima and Komori.
Although, he does have another thing to worry about: spending time with Fuyutisuki outside work. The episode consists of Himuro inviting Fuyutsuki to dinner to show his gratitude for her generous actions in Okinawa. Regarding their muted and shy personalities, their little “get-together” came off as awkward as we expected from a “first date”. Himuro also faints from embarrassment after Fuyutsuki overhears him mentioning a “date”, which doesn’t help him much. However, that didn’t stop them from growing even closer together.
The second half then sees them exchanging phone numbers after Himuro overhears Fuyutsuki saying she likes him but knows nothing about him. Afterward, Fuyutsuki begins to send Himuro pictures of her with her cat, Nyamero. But, of course, this resulted in Himuro suffering from cuteness overload and freezing his phone. It’s also revealed that Fuyutsuki secretly uses her photo of Himuro’s child form as her home screen picture. This moment begs the question of what would happen if Himuro actually saw the picture she kept for herself. Although, to be fair, he does look adorable in that form, so I don’t blame her for using that photo.
The episode further expands the characters’ charming chemistry, with them going out on their first “date”. The result is precisely what you’d expect from the previous episodes: a subtle yet adorable depiction of a blooming romance between the two low-key colleagues. Fortunately, it isn’t without a few moments of comedy that came from the show’s cuteness and the personalities of Himuro and Fuyutsuki that I couldn’t help but fall in love with. But, of course, like the previous episodes, this one ends with another cliffhanger, with another man descended from a spirit visiting Himuro at work. So it looks like things might get more crowded for the two lovebirds.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
