English Dub Review: Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for my Retirement: “Mitsuha Plays the Part!”
Overview: Mitsuha (Trina Nishimura) meets the illustrious von Bozes family, hoping to earn favor with the head, Klaus, to get her shop in the capital up and running.
Our Take: Man, does Mitsuha lay it on thick to win over Claus and his family. How she sneakily inserts herself into the good graces of von Bozes with her fake sob story is charming in how melodramatic she is.
The parents themselves are also fun. From Claus trying to impress his family with Mitsuha buttering him up to his wife, Iris, being a weirdo jewelry fanatic, they are plentifully quirky. Their kids take a bit of a backseat, but are also entertaining in their own right.
Little moments also help further detail the world. Even that of nobility has shoddy food with low culinary skills being a throughline no matter the environment. Mitsuha’s modern world has exemplary jewelry compared to the new one, hence Iris’s zealousness over her pearls.
Is it far-fetched how quickly they accept her like family, funding her shop without much debate? Absolutely. It also continues to be funny how Mitusha justifies her actions, so much so that you actually agree with both parties benefiting from her business.
What grounds her deceit though is when her charade bleeds into real life with the von Bozes reminiscent of the family she lost. It transforms into a heartfelt moment of mourning with the family comforting her, made more impactful by them being strangers.
With Mitsuha off to the races in her getting her store started, it will be interesting how she handles or circumvents her newest companions assigned to her.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
