English Dub Review: My Hero Academia “The Wrong Way to Put Out a Fire”

Overview:

Endeavor and his family reflect on Toya’s past and the events that led to his death, and Hawks and Best Jeanist bring them a proposition.

Our Take:

This episode should have been the one titled “The Hellish Todoroki Family” for sure. We got to see all of what had transpired for this family in the years leading up to Dabi’s reveal. Endeavor was a pretty awful father but I think he was just looking out for Dabi in his own way. He was trying to get him to stop hurting himself in the only way he knew how. This doesn’t excuse what he did by any means but I do think Endeavor is a great example of how to write a flawed character. He was just too selfish and fixated on his own ambitions to see how it was affecting his family.

Hawks has become one of Endeavor’s biggest supporters and he’s lucky to have such a good friend. I can see why he is in the top three heroes. I also have to say that Best Jeanist’s relationship with Bakugo is hilarious. He’s the only one that calls him by his new full hero name “King Explosion Murder God Dynamight” probably because it’s a mouthful. I do like the “Dynamight” part because not only does it represent his powers but is an homage to All Might. Love where this is going I just want to see what is going on with Deku now.
