English Dub Review: Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro “Senpai… Were You… Listening to What I Said…?”

Overview:

Nagatoro forgets her phone in the club room. Senpai tries to bring it back to her but gets himself into a situation.

Our Take:

This might be the cringiest anime I’ve ever watched and I have watched A LOT of anime. I’m aware that anime like this takes pride in making the most mundane of situations a colossal misunderstanding. I don’t care how nerdy, awkward, or socially inept you are, returning someone’s phone doesn’t need to be that awkward. There were some good parts when Nagatoro found Senpai hiding in the locker. I thought she might be crappy about it but she was surprisingly nice.

The anime budget for this series must be astronomically low with how little they give background characters’ faces. I’ve lost count of how many people in this show just don’t have a face. It just seems lazy but that could be how it’s done in the manga and they are just staying true to the source. I’m hesitantly looking forward to the next episode because it looks like Senpai is going to meet Nagatoro’s older sister. But I bet that will suck too.
