English Dub Review: Bluelock “Devour”
Overview:
Right after the game starts, Barou steals a goal with his overwhelming individual skills. Improved Naruhaya leads Isagi and Nagi by the nose, forcing them into a tough time. Naruhaya is desperate to catch up to geniuses like Barou and Nagi to survive in Blue Lock. Just the same, Isagi struggles but finds a glimpse of his new weapon, inspired by Naruhaya’s move. In the extreme condition where the egos of everyone collide, the time has come for Isagi to evolve.
Our Take:
This is going down as one of the best sports anime I’ve ever watched. It has real stakes and there isn’t any of the power of friendship stuff you normally see. I mean there is to a degree but most of it is a temporary uneasy alliance. Everyone is striving for one spot so there really isn’t much room for friendship. Everyone wishes the best but it’s a dog-eat-dog world at Bluelock.
I will say I felt bad for Naruhaya, of course, there would be one person who is poor and is relying on this to take care of their family. But to the best of my knowledge, this just means they can’t be on the World Cup team but could still play on professional teams. So Naruhaya should still be able to follow his dream at least a little bit right?
Isagi is one of the better protagonists I’ve seen because he doesn’t mope or panic for too long. He does a little bit sure but his ability to adapt in the middle of a game is impressive and I haven’t been too frustrated with him. Now that they’ve got Barou on the squad I imagine they are going to be a real force to be reckoned with but some of his past teammates might be getting a new recruit too…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
