English Dub Review: Akiba Maid War: “The Inside Story! A Drillmaster for the Swine!!”
Overview: The maids of Oinky Doink Café are in for a rude awakening when an authoritative drillmaster is tasked with whipping them into shape.
Our Take: Throwing the pigs into the deep end and watching them swim is what makes this episode so much fun. Their discipline in the form of Creatureland’s drill master, Sano, acts a funny, brutal juxtaposition to their uniquely hectic nature.
Although, it is well-founded why she is such a slave driver with the head of the company being merciless in her brutality. How she tries to whip the girls into proper maid shape is enjoyable in her bullying of their shoddy omelet art or lackluster onstage performances.
The bond of maids, as silly as it sounds, has been an impactful throughline. It is that very trait that makes Sano likable in her own right with her own commitment to that moral, similar to others before her. With that same sentiment, it also enforces why Oinky Doink would kick her rules to the curb. Shiipon, and Ranko yet again, are compelling albeit predictable catalysts for their own disorderly style and eccentric personalities. It will be exciting whether or not the gruesome penalty she is afraid of from her boss is addressed.
Okachimachi and Yaegashi’s pathetic, rejected state is utterly hilarious. Besides their sad homelessness, Shiipon’s pure enjoyment in being a maid is a sweet motivation for her dedication. Her clap back against Sano’s abusive teachings, punching the bejesus out of her is astoundingly satisfying too. With all the craziness and bloodshed she’s been subjected to, Nagomi getting a taste of regular maiding in perfecting her egg creation, is a wholesome end.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
