Review: Rick and Morty #1
Overview
Oni Press re-launches Rick and Morty’s comic ongoing series with a brand-new swath of rogue characters…kinda. Imagine a multiverse where Goldenfold, and a young sidekick of his own, leads the pursuit of madcap adventure and groundbreaking knowledge. Meanwhile, Rick and Morty are just looking for a Space shake.
Our Take
Writer Alex Firer comes in with pencil guns a’blazin’ with a fresh take on a seldom used Rick and Morty character, even adding an additional character in the form of Noelle and the possibility of a Council of Goldenfolds! Some pretty rad ideas that might actually be worth visiting for a proper series of its own, Goldenfold uses math as the basis of his genius as a counter to Rick’s use of science and with it brings with it a familiarity, but with enough differences where the concept works well on its own and brings with it a wealth of possibilities.
Let’s see where this goes!
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
