English Dub Review: By the Grace of the Gods “Ryoma and the New Plan”

Overview

It’s business as usual when Ryoma gets used to life in the city after parting ways with the Jamil family. Despite many of Ryoma’s friends suggesting him to further expand his slime laundry shop by making another one, he has doubts about it at first, until he receives a letter from somebody special…

Our Take

The first season a couple of years ago was one of the most wholesome isekai shows in recent memory yet was bland to some audiences. This season picks up right where that left off. With Ryoma facing new challenges, while still being the kind considerate soul that he is for not only the slimes but his employees too. But during the episode’s proceedings, a series of events makes some unusual yet beneficial discoveries that might have a major payoff later on.

As a business owner, it’s understandably important to work with those within your circle, but also to delegate. Ryoma having worked in that horrible environment during his previous life knows he has to make a healthy workspace for his employees. As a character, Ryoma continues to be a very wholesome and understanding character as you can feel his pain though with everyone trying to get him to open another store, yet feels like things are moving too fast and he’s already alone now that Elia and her family moved away. It’s hard to think about putting more on your plate when you are content with what you have.

Overall, as somebody who’s just jumped into this series and having binge-watched Season One in advance before covering this, I can safely say this is a very relaxing Isekai where there’s action and danger, but it’s mostly focused on the unique and creative ways that Ryoma continuing to make side-hustles with his mastery of Slime creatures in combination with him slowly meeting other gods periodically who all may have played a part in Ryoma’s newfound “Do-over” so his life isn’t so miserable. Only time will tell what will happen next now that he potentially has a clear goal that may or may not have large obstacles in the long run…
