English Dub Review: Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War “Everything But The Rain”

Overview:

Ichigo is kicked out of the Royal Palace by Oh-Etsu Nimaiya for failing his test. When Ichigo next opens his eyes, he finds himself standing in front of his house in the World of the Living.

Our Take:

Just when I think this anime can’t get any more impressive, it blows me away again. The animation is so impressive that I feel like I’m watching a movie half of the time. I’ve been letting the original series of Bleach play in the background whenever I’ve been working or reading and to see how far we’ve come since then is astounding.

What was so fantastic about this episode was we got a flashback of Ichigo’s father, Isshin. It was finally time for him to tell Ichigo about how he and his mother met. We just recently found out she was a Quincy and now the rest will come to light. Ichigo’s mother, Masaki, didn’t have a ton of speaking lines in the original series but hearing Cherami Leigh as she was an awesome surprise. I’m not sure if this is just for her younger years but she did great.

Isshin was the former captain of the squad Rangiku was in and seeing that she has stayed a lieutenant this whole time was hilarious. Isshin seemed like a good captain but Masaki was absolutely badass in this episode. How she defeated an out-of-control hollow was like nothing I’ve seen in Bleach before. It does make me wonder if her run-in with the hollow led to how powerful Ichigo is, hopefully, we find out.
