Warhammer Studio Inks Deal With Prime Video For Animation Who Just Declared War On Netflix

Multiple things are happening with this deal so let’s break it down. We found it suspicious that the WarhammerTV channel wasn’t posting any new preview videos for what’s going down on it’s streaming service, a lot of which is original animation. Well, this new deal that the parent company Games Workshop has made with Prime Video seems to have answered that.

A new deal has been inked that will give Amazon global rights for anything the Warhammer franchise touches, TV series, games, and yes, film and animation. This of course leaves the future of WarhammerTV very much in doubt as original animated series like Angels of Death, The Interrogator, and Hammer and Bolter called that streamer home for a little over a year now (a couple of which are eyeing our end of year lists). Games Workshop had also announced multiple animated series still in development, whether or not those will port over to Prime Video or if Amazon is just going to take a scalpel approach to the future of animation is anyone’s guess.

Clearly, animation inspired by games is a big deal for Prime Video as they’ve already got a hit in the form of Legend of Vox Machina as is competitor Netflix whose hit Arcane series made the news earlier this week for a promotion at studio Riot Games for Global Head of Animation Development that is surely going to continue that studio’s foothold in the adult animation industry.

A world war in adult animation is coming the likes that we haven’t seen before. Get ready.
