English Dub Review: To Your Eternity “Beyond Dreams”
Overview
The Kingdom of Ularis, along with Fushi, Todo, Bon’s family, and Baron Spring Roll, prepare for life without Bon…
Our Take
This time around, we finally get some proper plot advancement for the first time in what seems like forever. At first, I was legitimately beginning to question what the purpose of this story was. Now we have somewhat of an understanding of who and what the Nokkers are, what their massive grudge towards Fushi’s existence. At the same time, I’m also really surprised they didn’t just kill off Bon last episode. I mean it was considered normal for characters to die in this show, but Fushi’s plan worked to make him alive even though people think that he died… now that enemy’s plan to kill everyone to free them is what many sects thought before.
This was a massive growth opportunity for Fushi too as he’s hated himself for not saving March, Parona, etc. for all these centuries so to be able to save Bon was huge. As for Iris’s (which before was Todo)’s handiwork, she certainly impressed him. But what’s more cognizant is their relationship from their young times, which Bon just couldn’t get rid of being a habit. And in Uralis, more than the celebration of the death of heretics, the old Bon and Todo will be missed, and Chabo will be inherited into the new family.
Overall, while it’s weird to see Bon look and act so differently, it also feels refreshing that for once someone didn’t die… Sort of. Also, that Twist involving the Nokkers was a surprising revelation because up until that point, the Nokkers were an animalistic force of nature that was incapable of speech so this is kind’ve a big deal that we have some level of understanding and motivation. As for Bon, while I like what they did with his character in this episode, I don’t like how Bon’s desire to go back into battle as soon as he’s been saved which sounds like a bit of a narrative red flag, but all of that remains to be seen in later episodes/storylines.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
