English Dub Review: Cardfight!! Vanguard: will+Dress “Ruler vs Skyfall”

Our Take:

I’ve finally put my finger on what this anime reminds me of. It reminds me of Saturday morning cartoons on Fox Kids. This is both a good and bad thing, good because hey it’s partially what got me into anime as well. I remember watching Digimon, Escaflowne, and One Piece but if you take off some of the nostalgia goggles you can see how bad some of those dubs were. It’s no secret how bad 4Kids dubs are viewed nowadays with a lot of their shows getting redubbed like the aforementioned Escaflowne and One Piece. So I can finally realize why I’m so frustrated with this show.  No fault to the actors I just don’t think the work is being put in for a proper dub because there isn’t as much love for this series as others would be my guess.

One thing I have to give this episode credit on is it added more of the fights going on in the player’s heads. If they did that during the whole match you would have a whole lot better anime on your hands. This episode did something that none of the previous ones have done for me and that makes me excited for the next couple of episodes. I guess that is worth something in the end.
