English Dub Review: Beast Tamer “The Captive Fairy”
Overview
The party forges a plan to save Runa from the Shadow Knight but receives an unexpected reception back in town…
Our Take
A rescue mission for Runa from the Shadow Knight turns out to be harder than both Rein and Kanade anticipated, as the former had to use every bit of his power to tame creatures and even boost up Kanade herself enough to defeat it while Tania took care of Runa. Later on, Rein’s crew encounters the Hero Party to hand them the Shield of Truth, and Rein’s job is done once they acquire the legit stuff.
Aggath then has second thoughts to have Rein come back to the party given this work, and like it or not, the others also agree as well. But Rein doesn’t see it that way since the Hero Party are still being ungrateful jerks and Rein now has a circle of people who care about him despite them being otherworldly creatures who are all implied to have romantic feelings for the simple-minded dude.
Overall, this was a decent episode. Saving Runa didn’t take the whole damn episode as I imagined. She’s got a fun personality, good to have the twins at the party. What I find this anime provides is that you do not have to be a named Hero to be seen as such. Especially when many anime and stories in general play on that specific trope. Rein might be the true hero even if he doesn’t see it himself. As for Runa, she plays into the trope of twin sisters being extreme opposites of each other being that Sora is quiet and reserved while Runa is rude and mischievous. On the subject, judging from the show’s intro, I am kind of curious to see what other cute members Rein adds to the party in the future.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
