English Dub Review: Beast Tamer “Let’s Make Weapons; Beast Tamer VS Beast Tamer”

Overview

“Let’s Make Weapons”

Rein and the group went to the best weapon shop in town, but there was something wrong with all the weapons on display. Moreover, the owner told that he didn’t have enough material to make special equipment, so Rein and the group ended up investigating a mine.

“Beast Tamer VS Beast Tamer”

Rein and the others discover that the mine is occupied by a group of thieves led by another Beast Tamer who took control of a powerful monster and they must fight him.

Our Take

In this two-part storyline, Rein goes on a quest at the behest of a Dwarven Blacksmith named Gantz Stoloff to investigate a Mine that’s been hijacked and has cut off his mithril supply which is a big deal, because this is partially the reason he’s been holding out on quality products to various customers which Rein has taken notice of. Fortunately, this is something Tania understands, through mutual interest between the two and in exchange for fixing this particular problem, Gantz will make a quality weapons for Rein and his circle for free.

As for the other episode, it culminates towards a predictable yet satisfying battle when Rein and his crew encounter the thieves (along with another Beast Tamer) the mithril mine, and it’s clear that there’s theft going on, but after a cool action sequence between both Beast Tamers, The whole ordeal has its justice on both the thieves and Gantz himself now feels deep regret that he did things half-heartedly, no matter who bought his weapons, but is now given a chance to redeem himself. While all this is going on, The Hero Party (the very same douchebag’s who fired Rein to begin with) are now trying to find Rein’s replacement which fails miserably, as Arios so desperately wanting to eliminate Rein, puts everyone on a pedestal with some sinister intentions in mind…

Overall both episodes worked as a two-part storyline that was entertaining and compelling in a lot of ways. We do get some comical and fun screen time with the Fairy girls Runa and Sora as Faries. From having the two learning to interact with other people within the village, to their first time eating hot dogs. They work as extreme opposites, not to mention an obligatory bathing scene with all the women within Rein’s circle which is heavily censored and lead to some awkward humor that thankfully didn’t lead to unneeded violence like most Anime often does for a cheap joke. As for the cliffhanger at the end with that tall blonde dude showing a creepy interest in the Fairy Twins, the real question is, what are his intentions?
