English Dub Review: Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun ” Iruma’s True Feelings”
Overview
Bachiko finally starts training Iruma, on one condition. Sachiko is known to be one of the best archers in the underworld and she tells Iruma he’ll have to make a bow of his own. Iruma transfers some mana into one of the feathers of the guardian of Cutthroat Valley that he finds at the Magical Apparatus Battler and creates a bow. But Bachiko tells him it’s not good enough, and tells him that the most important thing is to visualize the bow that he wants the most…
Our Take
Bachiko thought that she’d know better, but didn’t know that Iruma was part of the Magical Apparatus Battler, now under genius inventor Eligoth Schnell that underwent a re-monsterization. Bachiko teaches Iruma the incantation “Quartz, Quartz!” to imagine the type of bow that he can muster, and the master herself isn’t gonna be impressed if he’s just copying her.
Later on, we finally learn why Bachiko has such a whatever attitude, she was a caring teacher that gave her best for her students yet those students would always give up so damn frequently, the more she expected of someone the more hurt she would end up. Inter-woven with this subplot, we learn that the whole class finally managed to overcome the first test but it seems that only made it worse for everyone tenfold.
Overall, another passable episode that helps further drive the narrative, while giving other supporting characters their moments to shine in different ways. I had no idea this “Festival” thing they have for everyone planned was some sort of tournament battle thing, but so far it kinda breaks the norm to see a protagonist with a bow in anime who isn’t a jerk, instead of a sword or their fists, or a shield the time around. Hopefully they’ll be a big payoff next episode to see if any of their newfound talents will be beneficial to them somewhere down the line.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
