English Dub Review: Cardfight!! Vanguard Will+dress “Last Ticket”

Our Take:

I think one of the things I hate most about this anime is also one of the things that makes me begrudgingly love it. The voice acting in this reminds me of the late 90s or early 00s English dubs. If you know anything about those you would know they were pretty bad. But if you go back and watch them now there is a sort of whimsical charm to them. I just don’t recognize any voice actors in this and that is both a good and bad thing. Everyone starts somewhere so some of these actors might be the next big thing but you can tell they are cutting their teeth on this one. I won’t go so far as to say it’s bad but it sure ain’t good.

When it comes to the card battles I would absolutely love it if they all played out as they did in this episode. Focus less on the people playing the game and instead on the imaginary battle that is playing out between their cards. It didn’t make the game any easier to follow but it was sure a lot of fun. Seeing the clash and ebb and flow of the battle legitimately left me on the edge of my seat wondering who would come out on top. If it keeps this up we might have something worth watching.
