English Dub Review: Beast Tamer “Beast Tamer VS Hero”

Overview

Rein receives a sudden request to work together from Arios’s hero crew who show up out of sheer happenstance in the forest. Arios then decides to double down on his douchebaggery even after Kanade and Tania demanded him to apologize properly. Consequently, Rein, along with Kanade and Tania, decide to fight it out against Arios and the rest of his hero party…

Our Take

And so the inevitable has happened… Rein and his new animal lady-friends encounter the Hero Party, but this time, he gets the answers he’s seeking regarding to his past. However, both Kanade and Tania won’t relent for them to throw shade at Rein being their lap dog, and with 2 of the ultimate species loyal to him Rein, it’s about high time that Rein stands for himself against his former allies/haters.

While begrudgingly they have to work together to find a magical Item that will help prevent the possibility of another village being attacked or destroyed the same way Rein’s home was as a child, Rein probably would’ve said yes to rejoining Arios and his mean-spirited pals if they didn’t consistently trash talk his girls. It also helps to give us such beautifully cathartic battles with Kanade delivering rapid punches like a Jojo stand against the warrior Aggath, while Tania’s mastery of Magic has her finger-snapping to cancel magic spells like she’s Thanos at whatever the mage and healer members Leane and Mina can magically throw at her. As for Rein Vs Arios, that fight itself was a sight to behold.

Overall, while it was nice to see the so-called hero group get comeuppance, it was also irritating to see that Rein almost go back to those fuckers until Tania rightfully said something. However, I hope to see why Arios and his party are so negative and high-strung. A little background would be nice rather than just making them empty, douche-monkeys for the sake of it. And It would be cool at some later point that they could all join forces and somehow manage to respectably reconcile while saving the world, but I have extreme doubts about that…
