English Dub Season Review: The Devil is a Part-Timer! Season Two Part One

Overview:

The second season of The Devil is a Part-Timer! sees our loveable devils go through everything you can imagine. Not only that but Satan is a father and Emi is her mama?! Does this season live up to the hype of the long wait?

Our Take:

With almost ten years between seasons, there were a lot of people (me included) that thought this would never happen. But don’t worry we already got news of a third season so we won’t be waiting nearly as long. Don’t worry No Game No Life fans maybe you will get some sort of announcement soon. But all that waiting amounts to nothing if the show isn’t good when it finally comes back. So how did they do with season two?

Spoiler alert, they did great. I was so happy to get to see these characters again. Season two was handled by Studio 3Hz instead of White Fox who handled season one. I wouldn’t say there was much of a downgrade but there were some action scenes that weren’t as good as season one was. But ultimately still solid and the character design was top-notch. What made me really enjoy this season was all the modern-day references that were made. I never thought I would hear an anime character utter the words “Bougie” or “Deez Nutz” but this anime proved me wrong time and time again.

If you were a fan of the first season you will love this one. It has one of the best new character introductions when the angel Michael comes to town. He was voiced by Ian Sinclair and him doing a surfer guy voice of an archangel wasn’t something I thought I needed in my life but turns out it was. Man, he was the highlight of the season, that character made the season worth watching alone.

The plot wraps up things it needed to but leaves enough hanging for the eventual season three. I love that this show and a few others got the love they deserved this season. There are so many anime that unfortunately don’t get a second season even though they deserve it well over others but luckily we can cross this one off that list.
