English Dub Review: Ya Boy Kongming!”KongMing uses a Strategem”
Overview
When a rival singer named Mia resorts to dirty tactics to get ahead, it’s up to Kongming to revive a mysterious, ancient strategy and bring about a decisive victory for EIKO!
Our Take
This show continues to impress as even the opening intro is very catchy. This time around, the titular Kongming decides to do some intel/recon on some of the artists in the local club scene at Z20 with Eiko. They come across Mia who was able to draw a crowd and is extremely popular. They get a chance to meet Mia and Eiko was able to introduce herself to her. Mia decides to invite Eiko to Club WAAARP for a round lady’s night.
However, all this seems too good to be true as Mia has her ulterior motives behind the invitation to Eiko’s performance. As Eiko will be on a separate stage and performing at the same time as Mia as a strategy to gain a larger audience knowing she’d be a better selling point than a newbie. And with Kongming figuring out her scheme, he decides to put his tactical skills to use to ensure he’s one step ahead in helping Eiko succeed…
Overall, I love how they’re mixing the music with the strategy and keeping to the theme they’ve made by introducing an ancient Chinese tactician to the modern day in clever and sometimes unsuspecting ways. I’m glad it’s not just a clothing/talking gimmick and they went full in. It’s clear that Mia is going to be a “singing rival” of sorts who seems more concerned about her image than her vocal training, and unless she changes that, it’ll hurt her in the long run when she tries to compete against other talented artists. Eiko continues to be cute and Kongming’s plan was simply epic I can’t way to see what direction the story will take next!
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
