English Dub Review: The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious “For Whom Do the Stars Fall”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Christmas is coming, and Yuuri and Natsume plot a surprise party for Lilith.
Our Take:
It’s never too early to celebrate Christmas, especially during October. You know, the month that’s full of tricks and treats. The penultimate episode before next week’s finale showcases Yuuri getting into the festive spirit with his two maids, Lilith and Natsume. But, of course, it isn’t Christmas without a festive party for a special someone.
The plot consists of Natsume wanting to buy a gift for Lilith before she leaves. So she asks Yuuri to help her choose the perfect present after she saves him from the high school bullies. Additionally, they plan to set up a surprise party for Lilith. While Natsume takes Lilith out on a holiday stroll, Yuuri, Tsukasa, and Fujisaki prepare for the party by decorating the house and baking a cake. However, it turns out that the surprise party is for Natsume since Yuuri failed to keep it a secret from Lilith.
The episode is unsurprisingly full of festive spirit and heart, which is typical for the other holiday-themed episodes of many shows. While the narrative is far from original, it offers a genuinely fun moment between Lilith and Natsume in-between Yuuri’s preparations. Natsume’s introduction in last week’s episode was suitable for the seasonal plot’s purpose despite her attitude and lack of skills as a maid. Fortunately, “For Whom Do the Stars Fall” sees Natsume gradually growing more friendly towards Yuuri and Lilith while maintaining her usual grumpy self, mainly the latter. Despite having trouble talking to Lilith and breaking her nose from a fall, Natsume makes her happy by gifting her a pen so Lilith can write letters to her often.
But, of course, it also has a couple of moments involving Tsukasa’s deranged romance fantasies regarding Yurri’s love for Lilith. We’re already past the point of my concern about the girl’s obsession with romance novels. However, for some reason, I couldn’t help but get a few chuckles from watching the poor girl fantasizing over something that may not happen.
This episode delivers the right amount of holiday cheer despite some familiar elements in its plot. I would even say that it’s a heartfelt breather before we head into its finale next week. Maybe we might finally see what Lilith’s former master looks like before we close off the show’s first season.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
