English Dub Review: The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious “Complicated, Convoluted, Perplexing, Honest Feelings”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Lilith’s former coworker and classmate, Natsume, comes knocking on Yuri’s door, demanding that Lilith comes back.

Our Take:
Another maid has joined the party as we’re reaching the final stretch of the show’s first season! Although, this one appears to be not as friendly as Lilith and Fujisaki. I should know because she interrupted a heartwarming moment between Yuri and his mysterious maid.
The new maid is Natsume Nakashima, who served the same employer as Lilith and is very persistent. In fact, she’s so stubborn that she judges Yuri as an unfit master based on his educational level and lack of money. Although, the latter is probably due to Lilith working with no pay. Either way, she should cut him some slack. The poor kid lost his parents in a car accident.
The previous episodes featured a formula of Yuri being highly suspicious of Lilith’s actions. But since Yuri has finally opened his heart to her, we would assume all is well. However, that seems unlikely since there are only a couple of episodes left in the season. So instead, it maintains the formula by placing this perspective on Natsume. The episode sees the new maid attempting to prove that Yuri is unfit to be Lilith’s master but would eventually admit how respectful and kind he is to Lilith. Natsume is also in love with Lilith and is a pretty poor maid, as she struggles to get her chores done. Although, she’s too high-strung to admit to those things.
While I’m still on edge with its concept, the formula for the previous episodes was suitable for Yuri’s over-the-top imagination, especially when he’s at a young age. These resulted in some embarrassing scenarios, which ranged from humorous to uncomfortable. The show’s ninth episode managed to spice it up by putting Natsume in Yuri’s position, which led to a refreshing change of pace despite not providing as many laughs as it should.
However, it compensates for it by showcasing more of Lilith’s past, mainly her relationship with Natsume. More importantly, it reflects on Lilith’s internal struggle to respond to Yuri’s declaration of love, which might come into play in the final episodes. At this point, I’m still hoping he meant “family love” and not the other kind of love, if you know what I’m talking about.
