English Dub Review: Smile of the Arsnotoria “Sniff!”

Our Take

I really wanted to like this show, but I was left confused as hell. Up until the last few episodes, it was a pretty cute magical “slice of life” story with some good art and out of nowhere some dark knight fantasy with bloody violence, yet seemingly made no effort to further connect the two other than a hint here and there. There’s no build-up or purpose behind these two separate subplots to slowly come together. All those “warnings” ended up being one big bait and switch in the worst ways imaginable…

Overall for the final episode, I felt tricked. I thought this show was going somewhere but turns out they have the pentagram students who end up doing the same shit from beginning to end. The only reason why I continued was the intrigue of both these storylines coming together as the intro kept hinting at, and it was my hope for the knights to eventually discover the pentagram students and for shit to go down. I don’t know if they’ll ever make a Season 2, but I highly doubt it at this point…
