English Dub Review: My Hero Academia “Mirko, the No. 5 Hero”

Overview:

Mirko chases after Garaki while the rest of Team Endeavor deals with Nomus at Jaku Hospital. Meanwhile, Team Edge Shot charges in for a surprise attack at Gunga Villa.

Our Take:

Mirko has been one of my favorite pros but we haven’t really gotten to see her in action. Hell, the role of Mirko was one of the first times I had seen Anairis Quinones’s name but by now I have heard her in a bunch of things I feel like this is the first episode she really got to BE Mirko. I understand why this episode was given the title it was because we got to see Mirko go all out. I’ve never been one to simp before but I would definitely say I’m a simp for Mirko.

I remember reading this chapter in the manga and I was really interested to see just how they would animate the brutality of what happens to Mirko. Her arm got twisted like I have seen kids do to Laffy Taffy, it was gross. But she just keep going and didn’t stop, she has been one of my favorite pros for a long time and this episode is why. I knew she would do some of the coolest stuff and honestly, I think she would be a really interesting pro for Deku to intern with but based on how the story is progressing I don’t think that has a chance of happening. Also, I thought it was really cute how when being told to think of someone dear to him to protect, Kaminari thought of Jirou. You know I love my romance, let’s just hope everyone survives to see young love come to fruition.
