Overview:

The Time Photo Studio team helps their friend, Xu Shanshan, figure out what Dong Yi said to her one night when she blacked out.

Our Take:

We pick up where left off last episode. The officer asks for Cheng and Lu’s help on a case. It turns out it’s not just Lihua Wu’s murder, but multiple homicides from the same suspect. When Cheng wants to see the pictures, Lu immediately hides the one of Lihua Wu. He also turns down the offer. He says there’s nothing they can do to help.

Later on, they get a request from Xu Shanshan, an old friend of theirs. She’s been interested in a guy named Dong Yi for a long time and she wants to be in a relationship with him. He told her something when they were out one night, but she was so drunk that she blacked out. She wants Lu and Cheng to figure out what Dong Yi said to her.

Cheng goes into the picture and takes the place of Shanshan. He wants to embarrass Shanshan, but he also has to stick to the script. When the message comes up, Lu receives it, but Cheng is distracted. He sees someone who he thinks is the guy behind those murders. However, it turns out to be a completely different guy.

Regardless, Lu relays the message to Shanshan and it seems like things will work out between her and Dong Yi. That is, until they receive a strange text from Shanshan. When Qiao calls her, someone else picks up the phone.

I’m eagerly awaiting Cheng finding out that he inadvertently caused Lihua Wu’s death. I’m not surprised that Lu is hiding it from him, but I also think he should find out at some point.

As for Shanshan’s case, I really like the story. It’s a classic case of wanting the other person to make the first move. Dong Yi’s confession is also very nice and I was hoping things would work out between them. However, that phone call at the episode is concerning.

It’s clear that the timeline was at least somewhat altered since Cheng strayed from the path. That being said, it’s not clear if Shanshan was killed. I hope she wasn’t because I’ve been enjoying her so far and I want her to have a happy ending. Either way, the end of this episode hooked me and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
