English Dub Review: Link Click “Consequence of Goodwill”
Overview:
Everyone tries to find out who the murderer is.
Our Take:
After the mysterious phone call, Lu goes to talk to the police to get and give as much information on the serial killer case as possible. When he does, he sees a picture from the security camera footage that got leaked. The police narrow down a suspect and Lu goes to find Cheng.
When the police try to interrogate their suspect, they find out he’s been in a wheelchair for some time and he’s ruled out. As for Cheng, he goes into a photo by himself and pursues the suspect. He hides in the trunk of his car during the night Emma is murdered. Cheng then realizes that everything that’s happened is his fault. He decides to return to the present and he tells Lu that he now realizes how badly he messed up. Qiao also finds out about their powers. Finally, the suspect is still on the loose and they have no other leads.
There’s a lot to take in here. I’ve come to expect that from Link Click, but this episode leans heavily into the paradox nonsense that I don’t like about time travel plots. The actual killer and the suspect looking identical is one thing that I’m confused about, but I’m sure that will be explained.
What I don’t like is how Cheng affected the timeline throughout his jumps. For example, he tells Qiao that what happened with Dodo wasn’t her fault. It was because he distracted her during a jump. That makes no logical sense and it creates a time paradox. If you don’t think about it that hard, it won’t bother you. However, that kind of thing has always bugged me about time travel.
Thankfully though, the story and characters are interesting enough that I still like this episode overall. I like Cheng’s realization that he caused this mess. I feel bad for him because he just wanted to be nice and help people, but he didn’t realize the consequences of his actions. Now that he does, I’m sure he’ll grow significantly.
As for the killer, like I said, I’m still confused due to what we learn in this episode. However, I’m still intrigued because I like a good murder mystery.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
