English Dub Review: Bluelock “Monster”

Overview:

A mysterious Ego Jinpachi leads the Blue Lock project to produce the world’s most fantastic striker. The top five players will be registered to play as forwards in the U-20 Cup which takes place in six months, but if they drop out, they will forever lose the chance to play for the Japanese team. What is the egoism Ego is looking for in a striker? Isagi and others make up their minds to survive in Blue Lock and move on to the first selection that can make or break their future soccer career.

Our Take:

Isagi really told that new friend of his that he and his dreams could kick rocks. I mean when you really think about it that is what all the top athletes are doing all the time. In order to be the best you have to beat someone and that can often be a friend. I think one thing we have learned is that Isagi definitely has the mindset to win the Blue Lock project but does he have the talent? Especially when we learn that he and everyone he is currently with are at the bottom of the project.

This is surprising because the best player (and probably character in my opinion) feels like Meguru Bachira. He is going to be the lifeblood of this show I can already feel it. He and Isagi I feel are going to be those rivals/friends that we love to root for and against. So far a couple of other characters kind of stand out but Meguru is the main one besides Isagi of course. This episode was more of a buildup to the big game next episode but it was still fun to watch.
