Illumination Entertainment Teams With Mike Moon For Moonlight Division
Mike Moon left Netflix last summer, and what a time it was for the adult animation producer. The guy helped redefine an industry that terribly needed it and has inspired the likes of FOX, Comedy Central, all of the streamers, and Disney to make sure they are well-represented in the adult animation industry as it’s a growth driver for networks everywhere. On the back of NBC Universal’s Peacock streaming series ordering the likes of Ted, In The Know, and a few others in development, the media conglomerate is making sure Mike Moon isn’t unemployed for long and has inked up the longtime producer and given him his own production label, Moonlight.
Illumination’s Moonlight label will be focused on more adult animation-focused films that could potentially be released via NBC Universal in the future.
Our Take
Mike’s as good as it gets in this business, with the likes of Love Death + Robots and Arcane cleaning up at the Academy Awards this past year, Illumination is well-equipped to make an even bigger splash in adult animation.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
