English Dub Review: Shoot! Goal to the Future “Emptiness”
Overview:
Tsuji quits the team. Meanwhile, Kurokawa and Kazama still aren’t seeing eye to eye.
Our Take:
Tsuji follows through on his word from the last episode and quits the team. He still practices throughout the episode. He’s approached by a member of the team they faced in their first practice game. He asks Tsuji to join their team, but he declines. At the end of the episode, he’s approached by someone else. Kamiya asks this guy to help, but we don’t see much of him yet.
Meanwhile, Kurokawa is still trying to be friends with Kazama. However, Kazama is understandable upset with him. Kamiya talks to Kazama and that leads to Kazama wanting to settle things with Kurokawa on the field. They play a one-on-one game and have an awkward exchange of words. In the end, the two make peace. Kurokawa attempts to apologize to Tsuji, but he doesn’t answer the door when Kurokawa shows up at his apartment.
I don’t know if this episode is as bad as the last one or worse. I’m sick of the constant self-loathing “woe is me” attitude Tsuji has. Even when it seems like he might be happy, he immediately goes back to the way he was acting before. The guy has no spine and it’s pathetic, especially because he’s blowing things way out of proportion.
As much as I dislike Tsuji, Kurokawa is still the worst character in the show by far. I liked him better when he was just forgettable. Now that I know he’s whiny and always needs Kazama’s attention, I find him to be even more pathetic than Tsuji. Kazama’s not great either, but he’s not as bad. To be fair, I don’t really like any character in this show, but these two are the worst. Since this episode revolves around the two of them, it’s natural that I’d find it horrible.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
