Our Take:
There are two things about me that you will know if you read my reviews regularly. One, characters are paramount to me. Great characters can make almost any plot interesting in my opinion. This anime has not just a great main cast but the side characters are fantastic as well. There is growth and lots of interesting twists. Two, if you throw in some good romance I am WAY more likely to like that show. The romantic implications in this one are beyond interesting and I will have to go into a couple of spoilers starting in the next paragraph.
Still here? Okay, you have been warned, it’s not the biggest of spoilers but it could affect your viewing so I like to put a warning. It seems that Patrick has fallen in love with Emilico. Now to me, that is interesting for a few reasons. I thought a love triangle was forming between him and John for Kate’s affection. With him being interested in Emilico it makes me wonder, can a shadow love a living doll? Is that allowed? But also, if Kate accepts John’s proposal of marriage what does that mean for Patrick? He’s in love with Emilico not Kate but the way this world is they are essentially one and the same. For now, Patrick has decided to bury his feelings but I know that in anime these things tend to come to light and usually in a messy fashion.
