English Dub Review: Saint Seiya: Battle for Sanctuary “The One as Powerful as a God”

Overview:

Genet faces her trial in the form of Daedalus. Meanwhile, the Bronze Knights face their next trial in the form of Virgo Shaka.

Our Take:

Genet comes face-to-face with her master Daedalus. Of course, it turns out that it’s just the trial she has to face on her way to the summit. She soon realizes this and defeats her fake master.

Meanwhile, the Bronze Knights arrive at the Virgo temple. They see Gold Knight Shaka and Long tries talking to him at first in order to avoid a fight. Seiya tries to just leave, but Shaka attacks him. The Bronze Knights try to take him on, but they are easily out matched. Nero comes to the rescue and he seems to be able to hold his own for now.

I figured Daedalus was just an illusion and I’m glad the episode didn’t take too long to explain that. However, I felt like Genet’s tearful goodbye to him after their fight was pointless. We already saw that, so we didn’t need to see a less impactful version of that.

Shaka making easy work of the Bronze Knights was academic, but I wasn’t expecting Nero to show up. He seems to be that guy who just appears and disappears randomly. He’s putting on a decent fight with Shaka, but I have a feeling he won’t win without help.
