English Dub Review: Parallel World Pharmacy “The Black Death”

Overview:

Farma and Ellen inspect the incoming merchant ships for any contagions. Farma later discovers that a small village has been plagued with the black death and he tries to help them.

Our Take:

Farma and Ellen arrive in order to conduct inspections on the arriving merchant ships. They need to make sure black death contagions don’t make it on land. Naturally, the ship’s crews are impatient. Some ships even start to fire on Farma’s boat.

Suddenly, the empire’s fleet arrives and they are led by the commodore, who happens to be Farma’s first regular at the pharmacy. He tells all of the other crews to remain calm and abide by the procedures.

Sure enough, one ship ignores the procedure and goes off on its own. In turn, this ends up infecting a small village. Farma goes to that village and helps cure its citizens. The villagers are reluctant to comply at first, but once he shows them his powers, they start to trust him. he helps most of the village, but there’s still one more area he has to take care of.

Meanwhile, the empire’s fleet comes across the ship that went against the inspection. It turns out that everyone on board is dead, presumably from the black death. The commodore decides that it’s best to sink the ship. That way, there will be no risk of more people getting infected.

This is just more of Farma doing good work. We also get to see the commodore in his element after seeing him at the pharmacy a few times, so that’s a nice touch. He’s very good at leading his crew and diffusing volatile situations, so it’s good that he’s heavily involved in this episode.

It’s unfortunate that a whole crew had to die, but it created tension. We don’t get a lot of tension on that level in this show, so it’s an interesting change of pace. On the bright side, Farma is curing the infected village yet. He’s not done yet, but he has a good track record. I’m sure he’ll be able to save everyone.
