English Dub Review: Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer “Amamiya Yuuhi and the Beast Knights (Part 1)”

Overview

Hangetsu’s wish has both made Yuuhi stronger and made him a target for Mikazuki while the rest of the Beast Knights are brought together…

Our Take

The first half was more random things happening with no sense of cohesion. With Yuuhi encountering/meeting the other beast Knights as they gather for their first big battle. Yuuhi gets a power up from Hangetsu’s wish which was surprising in a good way, despite Yuuhi’s secret desire to carry out the secret mission for Samidare. Following the princess to the ends of this crazy world.

On the subject, Samidare punching the seven-eyed golem was probably one of the better-looking punches in this anime. In general, I felt like the animation in this episode wasn’t quite as bad as some of the previous ones. We also finally meet the proverbial “Final Boss” behind all the golems that our heroes have been fighting. Revealing himself so causally emerging from that golem mouth. A creepy unsettling dude named Animus.

Overall, this episode was all over the place in terms of pacing. Yuuhi’s newly acquired skills from Hangetsu’s wish were a great way for the story to have him get stronger without going through the normal training bs that can take forever. And the introduction of the other knights wasn’t quite as bad but it still felt rushed despite all of them being gathered, and there are some interesting animals to represent them too. Things look like they’ll start kicking off the next episode.
