English Dub Review: Link Click “Farewell”
Overview:
Cheng tries to save everyone from the earthquake.
Our Take:
Cheng disobeys Lu and tells everyone about the earthquake in an attempt to save them. However, all this does is make things worse. He causes tension between the captain and his family, plus he panics the townspeople.
Cheng at least wants to save Chen Xiao’s mother, so Lu tells him what to do. The earthquake happens while Cheng is grabbing an important item. Chen Xiao’s mother saves him when the house collapses and still ends up dying.
He’s upset that Lu lied to him, but it’s also because the earthquake separated him from his own parents. That keeps coming into play in this story and hits harder every time.
On the bright side, it looks like Chen Xiao isn’t alone. He’s in contact with his father, plus he’s married and has a child of his own. I don’t know if he did before Cheng went into his photo, but it’s great to see him have a happy ending.
Speaking of endings, this episode concludes on an interesting note that will surely change the tone of the show moving forward.
This is my favorite episode so far. The emotional impact is so heavy, it’s hard to describe. I understand that Cheng sees his own mother in Chen Xiao’s, so I understand why he takes this job so hard. Part of me really wanted to see him save her, but I understand why that wasn’t an option.
It’s a shame he left on a bit of a sour note with the captain and his sister, but that’s a pretty minor complaint. Besides, like I said before, Chen Xiao gets a happy ending. Therefore, it’s not such a bad thing in the grand scheme of it all.
I cried while watching this episode, especially during the scene where we hear Chen Xiao’s messages and see what his life is like now. I always give props to a show for being able to bring me to tears. Depending on where the show goes from here, this may not be the only time this happens.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
